Living in Los Angeles at One Museum Square apartments for rent just got a whole lot more exciting. Over the past couple of months, we’ve seen many of our local Los Angeles museums either reopen or announce their reopening! For those who do not know, our Miracle Mile neighborhood includes the one-and-only Museum Row. From LACMA to the Getty, here is a list of some of our favorite museums that you can start visiting.
Los Angeles Museums Reopening
LACMA
While the eastern portion of LACMA is closed in preparation for its redesign to be completed in 2024, the other half is back in business! Beyond the iconic Urban Light installation are a variety of special contemporary and modern art collections. These exhibits are constantly changing. You can see what is currently on display on their website. Please note that timed tickets are required and must be purchased in advance.
The Natural History Museum
Also on Museum Row around the corner from your luxury apartments for rent on Wilshire Blvd. is the Natural History Museum. Fun fact, the NHM’s original Beaux-Arts structure was the first museum building in LA! That means that when you live at One Museum Square apartments for rent in LA, you are living in history. Back to the museums. NHM includes the Otis Booth Pavilion with a six-story glass entrance and its 63-foot-long fin whale skeleton. Additional highlights are the gem and mineral hall, dinosaur fossils, and the 3.5-acre urban nature gardens. Admission here is not free, and timed tickets are required.
The La Brea Tarpits
The Museum Row reopenings in Los Angeles continue with the iconic La Brea Tarpits. Tons of unique fossils are on display here. That includes an extraordinary wall of wolf skulls! There is also the new Observation Pit and Project 23, where you can see archaeologists at work. The outdoor pits are free to visit, but the indoor museum requires timed tickets.

The Hammer Museum
There are a handful of free museums in Los Angeles. One of them is the Hammer Museum on Wilshire Blvd. We love the Hammer because the rotating exhibits often feature the works of local artists. While tickets are free, you still must make a reservation in advance.
The Petersen Automotive Museum
Car enthusiasts can finally reunite at the Petersen Automotive Museum! For those who have never been, the Petersen Automotive Museum gives you a glimpse into the rise of car culture in Southern California. Revered car collections live here. That includes famous Hollywood cars and vintage vehicles. Timed tickets are required.
The Getty Center
Our final spot may not be on Museum Row around the corner from your Wilshire Blvd. apartments for rent in Los Angeles, but it is still very close. The Getty Center is a coastal mansion that once belonged to J. Paul Getty and is now a remarkable complex. On the outside are a handful of courtyards. The most notable being the Robert Irwin Central Garden. On the inside are famous art collections, including Van Gogh’s Irises. Admission is free, but timed reservations must be made in advance.
