Our first ice cream shop has a few spots around Los Angeles, including downtown Los Angeles and Studio City. Everything is made from scratch at McConnell’s and uses grass-grazed Central Coast milk. Their classic flavors like sweet cream, dutchman’s chocolate, and cookies and cream are incredible. You also cannot go wrong with flavors like peppermint stick and chocolate-covered strawberries.
Van Leeuwan Artisan Ice Cream
We could never blog about ice cream shops without including Van Leeuwen’s. Lucky for all of you living at our apartments for rent on Wilshire Blvd, one of the two Van Leeuwen shops is a short drive away in Culver City. While Van Leeuwen has delicious dairy-based flavors like their Earl Grey and Honey, their vegan flavors are what make this ice cream shop so delicious. The vegan bases range from cashew milk or oat milk combined with coconut cream, cocoa butter, and coconut oil. Must-try vegan flavors are the peanut butter brownie honeycomb and the mint cookies and cream.

Saffron & Rose
Up next, we have Persian-style ice cream from Saffron & Rose over in Westwood. Do know that there will always be a bit of a wait at this ice cream shop. We promise it will be worth it. The must-try flavors include the saffron and pistachio as well as the orange blossom. They also have a handful of vegan flavors! Our favorites would be the pink rose and the mango.
Salt & Straw
Salt & Straw is a classic ice cream shop in our book. There are just a handful of these shops in LA, and our luxury apartments in Los Angeles are a short drive away from the one on Larchmont Blvd. The lavender ice cream is a fan favorite, and we are big fans of the sea salt with caramel ribbons. Mateo’s Ice Cream & Fruit Bars
All of our gelato and sorbet fans living at One Museum Square must try Mateo’s Ice Cream & Fruit Bars. This Mexican dessert shop near your Mid-Wilshire apartments for rent has 30 different flavors, including watermelon, mango with chile, and our favorite, leche quemada.
